Merry Christmas from the Shafer Family

Shafer Party of 6 Christmas Letter 2025
Merry Christmas from the Shafer Party of Six! Our family looks a little different this year. We lost our sweet little old man Rico Pico De Gallo Suave Chihuahua Shafer. We cherish all of his quirks and his fierce loyalty to keeping his dad’s leg warm. We miss him so much and his name comes up often. We thank the Lord for the gift of Rico and his faithful companionship.
In October, we welcomed sweet and crazy Penelope the Pomeranian puppy. She is everything we didn’t know we needed and a little extra chaos but she is keeping the cats busy and they are training her to be a cat. It is very entertaining. There is so much personality in this 6.5 pound poofy pup.
We also welcomed our newest granddaughter baby C right before Thanksgiving. Baby A is a very good big 3 year old sister who loves to run and play hard. We love being grand parents in our mid forties but she can still wear us out.
This has been a year of working hard, playing pickleball and enjoying time with our neighbors and friends. LM continues her doctoral education at SMU Perkins and Jeremy is working at the new Lone Star Electrical Industrial location in Pearland.
LM’s ministry with Think Pink Inc is growing and we are thrilled with how she is getting to use her gifts to serve in our community. Girlsthinkpink.org/dignity
LM got to work on an important project for another church as it ended its 110 years of ministry and this relationship/job has been such a blessing to her soul. She has also been teaching adult confirmation at MDUMC and loves her class.
LM is still doing her afternoon nanny job and learning more and more about teenage girls. Kpop Demon hunters, Taylor Swift, Morgan Wallen and Hamilton are regulars on the car stereo.
Jeremy continues to serve weekly at Hope City and was baptized this year. He has made big and little changes to center himself in Christ. It is a beautiful things to see God moving and shaping him.
Wesley cat is still cranky but the puppy keeps him in check. Chacha is still fat and furry- coming in at 21 pounds of chunky love. Susanna has had a rough year of losing so much weight but she is still bossy and opinionated. She does not like the poofy puppy or really any of the animals….she would like to stay snuggled up on mom or dad all day long.
We enjoyed our Thanksgiving on the farm in Arkansas with Jeremy’s parents and Uncle Jeff. VR games were the nerdy talk of the group and now that Jeremy is officially in the VR world, our cats can’t figure out why he is standing in the middle of the living room talking to himself with a mask on. LM finds it very entertaining and has videos to share.
On December 4, we celebrated our 4th anniversary right after Jeremy’s 46th Birthday. December is always a full and busy month of birthday, anniversary, White Elephant Party and all the festive events that get added on along the way.
We wrap up this year with hearts full of gratitude. We didn’t travel but we did spend our time well. Our house is always busy with friends, neighbors, animals and Think Pink volunteers/supplies.
Our Shafer Party of 6 motto, We are grateful, we are generous, we love and follow Jesus.
Thank you for reading our Christmas letter and for the blessing you have been to us whether we have known you for a long time or for just a few months. We pray that you all blessed with peace today and always.
LM, Jeremy, Penelope, Susanna, Wesley and Chacha (RIP our sweet Rico Pico De Gallo Suave Chihuahua Shafer)

Updated December 22, 2025: Our sweet Susanna kitty went to hang out with Rico. Her tired little body was ready to rest well. We are super sad and will miss her dearly.
